City of Nanaimo Councillor
Erin Hemmens was elected to Nanaimo City Council in 2018. In that role she co-leads the City’s Health and Housing Task Force and represents Nanaimo on various boards, including the Regional District of Nanaimo, the Hospital District and the Vancouver Island Regional Library Board.
Prior to her election, Erin enjoyed a 15 year career in the community health field spanning both coasts. After completing her graduate degree in Halifax, Erin worked with academics, advocates and researchers on a variety of programs aimed at improving women’s health across the Atlantic region. In Nanaimo, Erin led a multi-year primary care initiative with local physicians and worked as a Coroner with the BC Coroners Service.
Erin is mom to two growing boys, an avid cyclist and a passionate believer in community.
